Haven’s Judy Hopkins, General Counsel, on Innovation in Highly-Regulated Industries

Did you know that there are active life insurance policies that are over 100 years old? Now, think about how much has changed during the past century, and how different it is for a person applying for life insurance today than 100 years ago.

Judy Hopkins, Haven Technologies’ General Counsel, is on the forefront of helping Haven Technologies develop those technologies so that they can be implemented seamlessly and in full compliance with the myriad of insurance regulations by carriers. Per Judy, “To stay relevant, the industry needs to adapt to new and emerging technologies.” Without Judy, this would be easier said than done.

Understandably, working day-in and day-out in a highly regulated industry can be challenging. To recharge, and much to the surprise of many Haven Tech colleagues, Judy has competed in two self-described “absolutely disgusting and ridiculously fun” mud run obstacle races. We’re still waiting to hear from Judy on what’s dirtier: insurance regulation or a mud run race!
